Go get the umbrella
Nak buat apa
Just go get it
Ye la.. ambek nak buat apa
uh..ah..er.. he had difficulties in finding the words
uhh..err.. it is raining..
Dalam bilik ni mana ada hujan
And he dozed off again.
My other half had the habit of talking while sleeping and the words that blurted out were always in english. I would tease him by asking him questions by questions until his brain could not digest the questions anymore. He would either collapsed into his dream once again or just ignored me, feeling angrier. It's been years now since he last had this 'dream talks' and I havent the faintest idea what had cured him.
It is a joke that I shared with the rest of my family and he would tease me back.
you were snoring
mana ada
you were sleeping. How would you know that you're not snoring
Kita tau la
But how could I know?
There was a time when I slept in a hospital ward, accompanying my son who was suffering from a dengue fiver. When my son woke me up before dawn because he wanted to use the bathroom, he said;
mak berdengkur berlawan-lawan dengan makcik sebelah
And definitely my answer was
Ye ke. Takde lah.
And I blamed the chair I slept on.
When I was small, my friends and I would catch mentadak, hold it in our hands and said:
mentadak mentadu, macamana diah tidur
Certainly the mentadak would bend, twist, curl, droop its legs much to the pressure we put on to its body. We would then laughed our heads off.
hahaha.. diah tido macam ni,
And we imitated the mentadak. I havent seen a mentadak for a very long time.
I like to watch my children while they were sleeping. There were peace and tranquility on their faces. Even now when they are all grown ups, I would creep into their rooms sometimes (if they were not locked) just to look at their faces. It gives me back the moment that I had while I was still craddling them in my arms years ago.
Sleeping makes us forget about everything.
But there was that one time
when I wept uncontrollably
It was the time
when I saw my mom slept breathlessly
knowing that
she would never wake up again.
